ENG: The screamers' songs enthuse the young, but do not meet with the favour of the more azzimilated and sanctimonious of past generations. The film takes aim at the Christian Democrat and bigoted occupation of TV. A number of young singers, including Adriano, Mina, Joe and the careless and clumsy trumpet player-singer Chet, known as the American because of his origins, being denied the chance to sing on television, organise concerts/comic events in Italian squares. Despite the fact that the austere Professor Giommarelli, Rai's general director, is immediately opposed to the teddy-boys phenomenon, on the side of the youngsters are his daughter Giulia, who will fall in love with Joe, and his senator grandfather. Finally, after various vicissitudes, between communists and Americans, love affairs and good deeds, the screamers will be able to crown their dream of singing on a television programme.

ITA: Le canzoni degli urlatori entusiasmano molto i giovani, ma non incontrano i favori dei più azzimati e bacchettoni delle generazioni passate. Il film prende di mira l'occupazione democristiana e bigotta della TV. Alcuni giovani cantanti, tra cui Adriano, Mina, Joe e lo sbadato e maldestro trombettista-cantante Chet, detto l'Americano per le sue origini, vedendosi negata la possibilità di cantare in televisione, si organizzano per dei concerti/comizi nelle piazze italiane. Nonostante l'austero professor Giommarelli, direttore generale della Rai, sia da subito contrario al fenomeno teddy-boys, dalla parte dei giovani ci sono sua figlia Giulia, che si innamorerà di Joe, e il nonno senatore. Infine, dopo varie peripezie, tra comunisti e americani, amori e buone azioni, gli urlatori potranno coronare il loro sogno di cantare in una trasmissione televisiva.
