Shadyside, 1978. La scuola è finita e le attività estive del Campeggio Nightwing stanno per cominciare. Ma la furia assassina di un abitante di Shadyside trasforma il divertimento in una violenta lotta per la sopravvivenza.
Gli orrori temuti dalla popolazione dell’Ohio del 1994 risalivano a diverso tempo prima. È il 1978. Il campo Nightwing è un luogo diviso tra gruppi di campeggiatori. Da una parte gli istruttori provenienti dalla ricca cittadina di Sunnyvale, dall’altra gli addetti alla manutenzione che arrivano dalla più cupa e tetra Shadyside.
Quando le nefandezze che si attendevano da secoli inizieranno a verificarsi drammaticamente esattamente come i racconti tramandati avevano preannunciato, i gruppi di Sunnyvale e Shadyside dovranno unire le forze per contrastare le presenze oscure e risolvere il mistero che le circonda, prima che esse prendano il sopravvento inevitabilmente.
