Charles Kent con la moglie Diana e suo fratello Alan con la moglie Helen, mentre stanno visitando la regione dei Carpazi, incontrano Padre Shandor, priore di un vicino convento, il quale li dissuade dal visitare il castello di Carlsbad, dominio del conte Dracula, defunto da dieci anni. I quattro viaggiatori, pero', non si attengono al consiglio di Shandor e si recano al castello ove trovano Klove, un cortese maggiordomo che spiega essere volontà del defunto conte Dracula offrire ospitalità per la notte ai passanti. Al castello, nottetempo, Klove, dopo aver ucciso Alan, mescola il sangue di costui con le ceneri del defunto padrone, facendo rivivere cosi' Dracula. Questi dapprima si reca nella stanza di Helen e con un morso la trasforma in vampiro, poi tenta di fare altrettanto con Diana, ma Charles riesce a fuggire con la donna ed a portarla al convento di Padre Shandor. Dracula, Helen e Klove inseguono allora i superstiti, ma costoro, grazie all'aiuto del frate, riescono ad annientare il terribile vampiro ed i suoi seguaci.
